That is the whole distinction. Information is what you are reading. Advice is a lawyer applying the law to your facts under professional duties. Representation is someone who appears for you.
Unbundled or limited-scope work
Some lawyers offer a piece of work — reviewing a draft, attending FDR, settling a letter — without running the entire file. That can be useful. It still requires a costs agreement, conflicts checks and a practising certificate. It is not created by submitting our contact form.
Do you need a lawyer for an amicable split?
Not every separation becomes a court case. Independent advice is still worth considering when there is a house, super, a business, a visa, a child with complex needs, or any family violence. Amicable people still sign things that are hard to unwind.
How to choose a family lawyer (without our invented reviews)
- confirm they are an Australian legal practitioner (law society / Legal Services Commission)
- ask about family-law experience that matches your file (parenting, property, violence)
- read the costs agreement
- ask who will actually do the work
- if cost is the barrier, start with Legal Aid Queensland or Gold Coast Community Legal Centre

Do not choose from invented reviews on this site — we do not rank firms. Legal Aid Queensland and Gold Coast Community Legal Centre are official/community doors if cost is the barrier.
