The Gold Coast is a long urban ribbon: hinterland towns, canal estates, tourist high-rises, and a state line at Coolangatta / Tweed Heads. Family law is still Commonwealth law. There is no City of Gold Coast family-law ordinance.
What is local is the confusion about buildings and the interstate parenting problem.
The federal file
Divorce, most parenting cases and most property cases are filed in the FCFCOA. Queensland’s standing registry that people are pointed to is Brisbane — Harry Gibbs Commonwealth Law Courts, 119 North Quay — or the Commonwealth Courts Portal. Confirm addresses and hours on the Court site before you travel. Phone enquiries are published by the Court (including 1300 352 000).
The Court has described circuit sittings that have included Southport in its regional program. Treat a circuit as a listing to check on court locations and daily lists, not as a permanent Gold Coast family-law counter invented by this website.
The state file
Southport Courthouse is a Queensland precinct (Magistrates Court, District Court and related state work). Domestic violence orders and some child-protection matters are state processes. That is why “I went to Southport” can be true and still not be a divorce filing.

There is no separate “Gold Coast Family Court” statute. The FCFCOA is the national family court for most of Australia. Brisbane is the standing Queensland registry people are pointed to. Southport Courthouse remains a Queensland state precinct.
